Who Is Faded Instruments?

My name is Doron Sadja – I’m an artist and educator based in Berlin and Los Angeles. Building electronic instruments has been a part of my performance/installation practice for years, but recently I’ve started designing instruments to share with others. A lot of my previous instruments are available for free to Reaktor users in the User Library. During the pandemic, like so many other artists, all my concerts were cancelled – though because of the kind of work I make, I don’t like releasing records (though I have). In need of a way to connect musically to the world outside my pandemic apartment, I created Faded Instruments 🙌. It’s still a growing project (even though its still just me doing everything), and who knows where it will head, but many new plugins are in the works and the project is expanding now into the world of Eurorack Modules.

What Are We Doing?

The Faded Instruments design ethos is not to make perfect instruments, but instruments that can offer new ways of thinking about sound or approaches to making music. We’ll probably never make a synth emulator or a traditional mastering plugin. Faded Instruments instruments are not ‘normal’ – their faults and imperfections are the eccentricities that make them unique and fun.

We’ll try to keep prices low so that they are affordable to everyone. If you want to work with one of our VSTs but don’t have the financial means to purchase it at this point, just send a message.

Software Refunds/Demos/Questions/Comments

Just email me! I’m an artist more than a professional coder, so I do my best, but I understand sometimes there may be issues. I want you to be happy with what you purchased, and if anything doesn’t work as expected I’ll refund you. I’m a one-person show, so I don’t really have the resources to make demo versions of each plugin, but if you buy it and don’t like it, just email me and I’ll refund your order (I promise I won’t take it personally~).

Software Installation Issues?

Windows users never have problems installing Faded plugins, but Mac has a few extra steps because Apple can be annoying… There are clear instructions in the provided installation pdf, but basically the plugin has to be manually installed at the moment (heres a quick video tutorial) and I’m not an ‘authorized’ Apple developer (ie I don’t pay Apple a yearly fee 🤮) so there’s also an additional authorization step. Its all quite simple but is a few more steps than bigger company’s installations. Message me if you have issues.
